Hello Fast Parts® Users!

This month's letter is all about finding new ways to increase that all-important bottom line! Car-Part is constantly working on ways to help you sell more parts. Lately, we have been working on a way that will make it easier for your customers to find and purchase your parts. With our eCommerce tools, you can have your parts in front of the customers 24/7. Your professional mechanics and body shops can search for your parts on Car-Part Pro, and use the BUY button to purchase your parts. Listing your parts on Car-Part Pro is part of the value-packed Car-Part Gold package. With Car-Part Pro, you can show your used parts, as well as other parts you have access to (like new and aftermarket parts) in the estimating systems your customers use. Your customers have asked for easier ways to find and purchase used parts, and in response has developed Car-Part Pro integrations with their estimating systems, giving them the best way to buy your parts. I was talking to a recycler the other day, and he told me that he had many sales requests on parts for a certain vehicle, so he bought one next time he went to an auction. He told me that after selling most of the parts off that car, he did not make enough to pay cost and overhead. His question to me: "Was it the vehicle cost or my pricing"? One problem that is unique to our industry is finding the correct price on what we are selling. With the website, you can get a good idea about what is a competitive price on most parts. Car-Part is working on increasing the number of parts that have interchange and allowing you to post them on the website. The CrashLink product gives you more parts that have interchange and most importantly what the current dealer price is. This gives you a way to price the part, not too high and not too low. I don't think most recyclers know the importance of this knowledge and what effect it can have on your bottom line. I have seen this product increase recyclers' profits on vehicles they have in stock, and allow them to purchase more and better vehicles at the auctions.

I am always excited to upgrade longtime Fast Parts users to the newer technology that is offered with the Checkmate system. As I write this, I have seen five new conversion orders this week alone that will be installed over the next few weeks. I think it is important to know that converting to Checkmate is, in fact, the way you get all the features you have been asking for, at little or no extra cost. The Fast Parts platform has taken us just about as far as we could go, and now it is time to make the change over to Checkmate.

Think about having these features...
  • Include your part pictures with your part information
  • Email information to customers right from your inventory system
  • Change part prices on the fly, without needing to exit out to the Add Part screen
  • Have more than one warranty disclaimer added to invoices
  • Automatically add extended warranty cost and terms to invoices
  • Have "like car" information for parts without interchange
  • eBay solutions that allow you to post your parts in your eBay store
  • Interface with your sales information in QuickBooks
