eBay is beginning to require that sellers use eBay Managed Payments. eBay has announced their agreement with PayPal has expired. eBay is now in the process of converting all sellers over to eBay Managed Payments, which is eBay's own payment processing service. It is the new way to sell and get paid on eBay, and eBay sellers cannot opt out.
By the end of 2020, eBay will manage payments for most sellers (more information is available on
eBay.com/payments). eBay sellers will be receiving notifications letting them know that they can register for eBay Managed Payments.
Here are a few important things to know about switching to eBay Managed Payments:
- The notification from eBay will include a deadline to register for eBay Managed Payments.
- After you register, nothing will change until eBay activates your account. eBay will notify you of your activation date 2 weeks in advance.
- After eBay Managed Payments is activated for your eBay account, you must remove your PayPal email address from your eBay settings in Checkmate.
Here's how to remove your PayPal email address from your eBay Settings in Checkmate:
- Click the eBay button to open Checkmate Listing Manager for eBay.
- On that tab, go to File>Configure eBay Settings
- Click Payments.
- Delete any email address you have in the PayPal Email Address field.
- Click Accept and Close.
